On the road - Day 1

We're officially under way! After months of planning, the big day finally arrived. I knew that packing all our stuff was going to be an interesting experiment, but I didn't realize just how interesting... It turns out that being the kind of family that over packs makes packing for a month long trip really interesting. We managed to fit everything in, but just barely!

We hit the road and quickly found out that it's road construction season. In case you don't remember, the four seasons are: almost winter, winter, still winter, and road construction. In the first half-day of traveling we went through at least a dozen road construction projects. Fortunately none of them turned into major headaches. This was a common view:


The girls did a bunch of chillin' out and the first day went pretty well. We made it to Albert Lea, Minnesota, which was our goal. Katie and Julie managed to make themselves pretty comfortable:


Trying to get organized each morning is something we will need to practice:


And, of course, we have to keep up on our email and such!
