There's not much to see across the plains...

Day 2 was spent travelling across Minnesota and South Dakota. "Nothing to see here, folks, move along!" Check out the Flickr pictures for a few highlights.

We passed a bunch of wind farms - those windmills are huge! A break or two in some rest areas and a few gas stops made up most of the excitement for the day. We discovered that strapping a big 'ol wind blocker (cargo pod) to the top of the car and then putting the hammer down across the plains takes its' toll on the cars' gas mileage.

We took a break at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD. They decorate the building using corn and other plant material. Each year they re-decorate the building with a new pattern. This place is good for a 15 minute break, but I wouldn't consider it a major destination.

We made Wall, SD our ending point for the day. We found a hotel with a pool so the kids could get their swimming fix and then went made the required pilgrimmage to Wall Drug. Wall Drug is your basic tourist trap, but it's worth a visit if you're in the area. Check out the Flickr pictures for a few shots taken on the grounds.

Day 3 will be spent visiting the Badlands and Black Hills area. Our first official "tourist" day. Yay!
